The island sells cat food (that's what they eat) for you to feed to the flamingos. The island has a family side (Iguana) and an adults only side (Flamingo) which is where the famous flamingos come out.

The ride to the island is about 3 minutes. The ferry to the island is a less than 10 minute walk from the hotel lobby.

This was my only experience in Aruba and it was beyond anything I had imagined. The were frequently checking on us for any requests. Donovan even provided comprehensive first aid when I cut my foot on some coral while swimming. Those two guys will take very good care of you. Donovan and Jonathan handled all our bar and food service. Only one has the flock of flamingos that are beautiful, friendly, and make incredible pictures. There are actually two horseshoe beaches. There is a private hammock and stairs to the beach. The cabana has lounge chairs, a sofa, 4 huge beach towels, and a shower.

The day pass included two meals and two drinks, The cabana includes full bar/restaurant service as well as an ice chest with fruit, water, and champagne as well as plastic flute glasses. There was another couple from the cruise as well. She made a call and like that we purchased the cabana for the day. After we exited the boat we approached an island rep and enquired about renting a cabana. The boat ride is about 10 minutes to the private island.

We walked from the ship to the Renaissance Hotel and boarded a small motor boat that docks inside the hotel. You must go on line at 0700 the day before and purchase the passes for $125 per person. We were able to acquire day passes while in port on the Norwegian EPIC.
